North Richland Hills: A Mid-Sized Tarrant County Suburb
North Richland Hills sits in northeastern Tarrant County between Fort Worth and DFW Airport, with approximately 69,000 residents. The city grew out of the earlier Richland Hills community and was incorporated separately in 1953. Population expanded rapidly as Fort Worth spread northeast and as the completion of DFW Airport in 1974 drew suburban development into the Mid-Cities area.
NRH2O Family Water Park, a municipally owned waterpark opened in 1995, has operated continuously since and remains one of the few city-owned waterparks in the region. Iron Horse Golf Course and the North Richland Hills Library anchor other parts of the city. Birdville ISD and Keller ISD serve different portions of the community.
The TRE (Trinity Railway Express) commuter rail line does not stop directly in North Richland Hills, but the nearby Cotton Belt line of TEXRail connects the Mid-Cities to DFW Airport and downtown Fort Worth. Residential and commercial development along Precinct Line Road and Davis Boulevard forms the main commercial core.
