The Mound Laboratories, a nuclear weapons components production facility operated by the Atomic Energy Commission and its successors from 1948 to 2003, was located in Miamisburg. The facility produced components for the nuclear arsenal during the Cold War. Environmental remediation after the plant's closure has converted much of the site into the Mound Advanced Technology Center for research and commercial use.
