Salcha Along the Upper Tanana
Salcha is an unincorporated CDP southeast of Fairbanks along the Richardson Highway, where the Salcha River meets the Tanana. About 1,100 residents live on parcels that range from river-bank cabins to larger holdings on the highway side. Eielson Air Force Base lies just to the north, and many residents either work on base or have ties to it.
The Salcha River supports one of the stronger king salmon and grayling fisheries in the Interior.
